Album Blog #4 - Completion

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all well and that 2012 is treating you well so far.

So, it’s been a long time since I wrote a blog about the album. I have had myself locked away behind my studio door for the best part of 6 months now, writing, recording, rough mixing, rerecording, rewriting etc. etc.

I am please to tell you that, apart from a couple of vocal parts I am yet to record, the recording of the album is complete!

I have 14 tracks ready. This consists of 11 brand new tracks, 2 previously released tracks that I have improved upon, and 1 previously released track which I’ve done a complete overhaul of and changed significantly. As of yet, i still do not know which tracks will make the final album, which tracks will surface as B-sides, and which tracks (if any) will be damned to the depths of my hard drive for all eternity.

I’m very excited for everyone to hear what I’ve been working on. At the end of May, mixing will begin on the album. This is being done by a guy who has mixed some huge albums, and I have no doubt that he will be taking these tracks to the next level, but more about that later.

As for the release of the album, I can’t be sure when this will happen as there are several things that needed to be sorted out before then. However, I will hopefully start rolling tracks out over the next few months.

In the mean time, if you haven’t already, check out the last remix I did for my good friends One Week Warning by heading to http://soundcloud.com/the-polysonic/one-week-warning-great-divide.

Also, if you are not already, please sign up to my mailing list so that you can receive updates on album news and remixes etc. first. By doing so, you will also receive a free MP3 of my track ‘Home’ from Say Something EP. To sign up to this, simply head here - http://thepolysonic.fanbridge.com/

Once again, I hope you are all well, and I’ll speak to you soon! (Hit me up on Twitter @thepolysonic or write on the Facebook wall http://www.facebook.com/thepolysonic to ask me anything or chat)

All the best,

Tom

Round up 2011

So, the end of 2011 is just round the corner, and it’s been an insane one.

In terms of The Polysonic, it’s been great.

In January, I released my debut EP, Say Something. The feedback I have received from all my fans has been amazing and the support was incredible. This EP saw me receive my first airplay, both national and international.

Then, in March I released my debut single, Come Down. Again, the support was incredible, and in the first 48 hours of release it had received over 2000 plays online, which I never expected to happen! This also saw my first radio play on a BBC station, which was pretty amazing!

This year I also managed to cross the 100,000 online plays boundary. This is incredible, and is all thanks to you guys. This boundary was crossed with no label or management backing, virtually no money put in to promotion, and having played no shows to promote. Instead, I spent many sleepless nights trying to spread the word, and the response from all you guys was amazing, spreading the music around and helping out. I couldn’t have done it without you!

Let’s hope 2012 brings more of the same. I’m still working away at my debut album for release later in the year, and I hope you will all enjoy it as much as I am!

So again, thank you all for all the amazing support, and I hope you all have a great 2012!

Tom

Album Blog #3

So, it’s been a couple of months since I last blogged about the album. A lot has been happening since then.

I now have about 8 tracks close to being finished, and another couple that are works in progress. My plan is to write about 15 tracks for the album and then pick the best 11 or 12 to make it to the final album. I went in to this project thinking that the album had to be the best I could make it, which obviously means spending a lot of time on it, so it’s taking a lot longer than I had originally planned. However, I think it will be worth it in the end.

In terms of direction of the album, it is going in several ways. Some tracks are more housey, some are pure electro, some are more rock based. I’ve completely revamped my track Say Something into a much heavier, more powerful direction.

While working on this album, I’ve also been working on various other projects as a producer, mixing engineer or studio engineer. A couple of weeks ago I finished an EP of 7 tracks for some of my fellow uni graduates, Saskia Says, which is going to be released at some point in 2012. I’ve also been helping out on Amy’s Ghost’s 2nd album, a fellow band from Reading. The album is sounding incredible, definitely one to watch out for in 2012.

I’m looking to have my album released mid-2012, but I will be giving previews of new tracks before that, and I will also have some new remixes for you guys to listen to early on in 2012.

Finally, I recently found out that I had made it through to the longlist for MTV’s Brand New For 2012. This is a great opportunity for all the artists who have been longlisted, and it is now down to public vote. So I really need your help! If you want to vote for me and help me out, you can do so here - http://bit.ly/sI39bG. There is no sign up required, as you can log in to vote using your Soundcloud or Facebook accounts. It would be a great help to me if you could spare a minute of your time to vote!

That’s all for now, I hope you all have a great Christmas and New Year, and I will see you again in 2012!

Album Blogging #2 & Free Downloads

Wow, it’s been six months since writing the first album blog. Where has the time gone!?

A lot has been happening over those months - finishing uni and moving house to name a couple. But most importantly, I have been working on tracks for the album.

To this point in time, I have around 5 tracks in progress currently. It’s a long process of writing, re-writing, mixing and re-writing again, but I have a determination to make it the best I possibly can, or there would be little point in writing it.

I’ve recently been working as a freelance producer and mixing engineer for various acts which has been consuming a lot of my time, but I’m still finding those moments to work on my own material. What I can say is that I am very happy with how the songs are currently coming out. I feel it definitely shows a progression from Say Something EP while still retaining the same musical values.

In the mean time, I have put up a free download of the instrumental version of Another Day from Say Something EP. Feel free to download at will =]

Until next time!
